Psychiatry Clinic FAQs

Direct specialty care is a form of membership-based private practice, sometimes described as out-of-network or cash-pay care, in which patients pay directly for services without the administrative restrictions of insurance-based care.
This model allows greater flexibility in appointment length, follow-up frequency, and ongoing communication, so we can stay connected between visits when needed. Care is guided by clinical evidence, expert evaluation, and patient autonomy rather than insurance requirements.
-
We do not contract with insurance companies. We can provide superbills, which you may submit to your insurance if you wish to seek out-of-network reimbursement.
This practice remains intentionally small and independent to keep the focus where it belongs: on care that fits your life.
Our clinic has opted out of Medicare, so Medicare cannot be billed for services provided by this practice, even if a superbill is submitted.

Your monthly membership includes flexible access to care and a level of coordination that is rarely possible in traditional settings. This includes direct communication, flexible scheduling, and follow-up plans that can be adjusted based on your needs.
Collaboration with your primary care provider and other members of your care team is welcomed when helpful. Laboratory monitoring can also be coordinated as needed. When appropriate, prescriptions are sent electronically to your preferred pharmacy.

Our clinic cannot treat patients who reside outside of California at this time.
Because this is a small clinic, there are some psychiatric situations for which we may not be able to provide appropriate care. If you are experiencing psychosis, are actively suicidal, are a danger to yourself or others, are unable to care for yourself independently, or need emergency care, your needs may be better met by emergency services or a community mental health clinic through your county.
In acute situations, 911 and 988 are always available for immediate support.
You can also visit the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
The 988 Lifeline is available 24/7/365. Your conversations are free and confidential.

We are a neurodiversity-embracing clinic
“Neurodivergence” refers to the range of ways the nervous system can develop, learn, and interact with the world. The term is often used in discussing ADHD, autism, learning differences such as dyslexia, and related differences in how people think, feel, learn, and process information.
